Report: Napoli eye Alexis Sanchez
New Napoli manager Rafa Benitez is considering a move for Barcelona winger Alexis Sanchez, according to the Gazzetta dello Sport.
The Italian paper claims that after negotiations with Porto for the transfer of Jackson Martinez went sour - with the Portuguese side demanding €40 million for the forward - Napoli will now turn their attention to the pacey Barca player instead.
Since arriving in the dugout, Benitez has already signed Gonzalo Higuain, Raul Albiol and Jose Callejon from Real Madrid but now the former Chelsea interim coach is preparing a raid on Madrid’s arch rivals Barcelona.
Alexis is no stranger to Serie A after exploding onto the scene at Udinese. The Chile international scored 12 goals in 31 league games for the Italian side in the 2010-2011 campaign, before joining Barcelona for €43 million.
But the 24-year-old has failed to live up to the hype at the Camp Nou and has struggled since his move to Spain - the winger made just 18 starts in La Liga last season.
