9. Cesc Fabregas to Manchester United
After David Moyes failed to bring Thiago Alcantara to the club and went on to buy another Barcelona man. Ex Arsenal midfielder was less likely to join Arsenal rivals Manchester United after he left Arsenal for his childhood club Barcelona. 8. Luiz Gustavo to Arsenal
Arsene Wenger paid around £17.2 million to Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich for the Brazilian midfielder but the offer was rejected by the player. Arsene Wenger could not finalize the deal with Gustavo who later on decided to join Wolfsburg. He told the main reason of staying in Germany in a press conference "Wolfsburg are a top club. I like Germany. The security the country gives me," he said. "I have considered everything. I knew about everything. My heart decided on Wolfsburg.”
7. Daniel Agger to Barcelona
Barcelona have been facing defender problems after the injury of centre back Carlos Puyol and have been playing Mascherano in his place for a while now. Barcelona head coach Tata Martino wanted to put an end to this by trying to bring the Danish centre back to the club. Daniel Agger couldn’t agree a move to the Spanish giants as he didn’t want to leave Liverpool, the club that "has given him everything". Brendan Rodgers later on gave Daniel Agger the vice-captain role as he believed Agger is very loyal to Liverpool and wouldn’t want to leave in the future.
6. Lewandowski to Bayern Munich
Bayern Munich bought Mario Gotze but failed to buy his former Polish team mate Robert Lewandowski. Lewandowski wanted to leave Dortmund and joined the European champions but Dortmund blocked the deal from going any further. Lewandowski was shocked that Dortmund won't allow him to move to Bayern Munich but isn't unhappy and their decision. He told "After the talks we held I was convinced I'd be allowed a free decision about my transfer. Then everything changed. Sadly the situation now is I have to stay here. I am surprised about their dealings, but if BVB wants to give up on a lot of money for me, I have to respect that." He isn't unhappy and has played well so far. He's been having a great partnership with new-comer Aubameyang. Although Dortmund stopped the move from happening he will probably leave next year.
5. Gonzalo Higuain to Arsenal
The Argentinean striker was hugely linked with Arsenal but Napoli had intercepted the offer and went on buying the player for €37million.
