Sone Aluko confident Hull City can avoid relegation drop
Sone Aluko is confident Hull City can steer clear of relegation trouble and preserve their Premier League status.
The Tigers have made a solid start to life back among the top flight elite, collecting seven points from their opening five fixtures - as many as reigning champions Manchester United.
They secured a second success of the season on Saturday as they edged an entertaining encounter with Newcastle United 3-2.
Aluko grabbed the winner at St James' Park, converting a spectacular volley, and the highly-rated forward is adamant that Hull can maintain their early momentum and avoid being dragged into a basement battle.
He said: "We're not a team that's going to be relegated.
"I was confident goals would come. If I keep getting chances, I knew I'd eventually take one.
"George Boyd cut it back with pace on it so I just had to control it with a side-foot rather than going for power.
"Thankfully it hit a post and went in. It's up there with my best."
With Aluko back to full fitness following an Achilles injury and firing on all cylinders, Hull boss Steve Bruce is looking to step up his efforts to get the Nigeria international tied down on fresh terms.
On a possible extension to a deal which is due to expire at the end of the season, Bruce joked: "Maybe I'll have to offer him the Humber Bridge and the toll!"
