Mesut Ozil says Arsenal are ready to take on all-comers
Mesut Ozil says Arsenal are ready to take on all-comers after proving that they can maintain their fine early-season form.
The Gunners stumbled out of the Premier League blocks on the opening weekend, but then spent big to land Ozil on transfer deadline day and have not looked back.
Only two defeats have been suffered in all competitions since coming up short against Aston Villa, and one of those was avenged in midweek as they edged out Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League.

Man United v Arsenal at Old Trafford, and we are underdogs? Moyes speaks on the Super Sunday game
United trail Arsene Wenger's side by eight points in the table, with the North London club unbeaten in the Premier League since their opening day loss to Aston Villa, although the current champions have not suffered defeat in any of their last eight games.
If selected, the 39-year old would face the in-form Gunners for the 50th time in his career, but despite Arsenal being the bookmakers' favourites for the game, Giggs believes that the hosts are undeserving of this tag.
"Man United v Arsenal at Old Trafford, and we are underdogs?" he said.
"I wouldn't say we were underdogs. But I take the point that Arsenal are the form team and it is going to be a tough game.

"He has played really well," said Moyes."He now sees himself as one of their really important players and has not let them down with the goals he has scored.

Wenger admits there was nothing "subtle" about the way Arsenal tried to sign Suarez
The Gunners boss made the admission on the eve of Saturday's first-versus-third showdown at the Emirates - but insisted his club's carefully calculated £40,000,001 offer was in no way meant to be "provocative".
Arsenal had made their specific bid believing it would trigger a get-out clause in Suarez's contract but were quickly rebuffed by the Anfield club in July, with American owner John W Henry posting on Twitter: "What do you think they're smoking over there at Emirates?"

Flamini in doubts over Dortmund clash
Flamini was forced off in the first half of Saturday's 4-1 win over Norwich City after suffering a concussion.
Wenger is waiting to find out how serious the problem before finalising his squad for next Tuesday's showdown with Dortmund at the Emirates.
"He had concussion," said Wenger. "He had double vision, so on the advice of the doctor I took him off because I did not want to take any gamble.
"I don't know if he'll be available for Dortmund, it depends now what the doctors will decide.

Ramsey: I need to be playing well, be involved in the game and taking these games by the scruff of the neck...
The Arsenal and Wales midfielder has scored 10 goals this season, already more than any previous completed campaign, and he has been one of his club's key players in their rise to the top of the Premier League.
Ramsey continued to impress for Wales in their 1-1 draw with Belgium in midweek, scoring their late equaliser, and the current Barclays Premier League Player of the Month feels he can take his performances to an even higher level.
He said: "I think there is more to come, I'm still only 22, I still need to do better and learn a few more things but the boss (Arsene Wenger) is telling me about that, things like positioning defensively.

[PHOTO]: Olivier Giroud & Mikel Arteta post celebratory dressing room pics after Arsenal win over Napoli
Lukas Podolski may have been the first Arsenal player to post a celebratory dressing room picture after the glorious win over Napoli, but the German had the advantage that he didn’t play at the Emirates last night.
Mikel Arteta was the next to upload a picture on Twitter from inside the Arsenal dressing room, also with Santi Cazorla, Mesut Ozil Podolski, Per Mertesacker and Olivier Giroud.
The French striker then added an Instagram picture featuring the two Arsenal goal scorers against Napoli, with man of the moment Ozil.

Wenger commends Ozil impact at Arsenal
Arsene Wenger admits Mesut Ozil's deadline day arrival at Arsenal has given 'a lift to everyone at the club'.
The Gunners left it late to complete their most important piece of summer transfer business, with Ozil lured away from Real Madrid in a £40million-plus deal.
Securing the signature of one of European football's most creative talents was seen as a major coup for Wenger, who had previously been criticised for his reluctance to spend big on world-class performers.
Arsenal knew exactly what they were getting in Ozil, with there few who doubted his ability to slip seamlessly into the Premier League fold.

[Match Report]: Arsenal go top of Premiership table with win over Stoke
Arsenal 3 Stoke 1
Victory left the Gunners two points in front of both Chelsea and Liverpool, though north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur will join them on 12 points if they win away to Cardiff later on Sunday.Arsenal went to the top of the English Premier League table after a 3-1 victory at home to Stoke on Sunday.
Wales midfielder Aaron Ramsey, who suffered a potentially career-threatening leg injury following a poor tackle by Stoke’s Ryan Shawcross three years ago, made it seven goals in eight games when he gave Arsenal a fifth-minute lead at the Emirates Stadium with a close-range strike after Potters goalkeeper Asmir Begovic had palmed away a Mesut Ozil free-kick.
Stoke, however, were back on level terms when United States international Geoff Cameron scored his first goal for the club in the 26th minute with a controlled shot from the edge of the box after Marko Arnautovic’s volley had come back off the post.

Arsenal though were 2-1 up before half-time through centre-back Per Mertesacker’s looping header.
Bacary Sagna then scored his first goal in 19 months as Arsenal again made Stoke pay for failing to defend a set-piece when he headed home in the 72nd minute from another free-kick by STG42.4 million ($A72.48 million) club record signing Ozil, the Germany international producing a sparkling display on his Gunners’ home debut.
In Sunday’s other early kick-off match, Swansea won 2-0 away to Crystal Palace with Michu putting the Welsh club in front in just the second minute before Nathan Dyer added a second goal shortly after half-time.
Arsenal vs. Stoke City: Discussions & Lineups
New boy Mesut Ozil will make his home debut for Arsenal after shining in his first match for the squad last time out.
Ozil’s assist to Olivier Giroud opened the scoring against Sunderland a week ago, and with it gave Gooners everywhere hope that they can contend for the title this season despite spending money on just a single player in the summer transfer window.
Santi Cazorla continues his injury woes as Mathieu Flaminigets another start in the midfield for Arsenal. Olivier Giroud, who has four goals on the season so far, will continue to man the duties up front. The Arsenal back four looks much more normal as the injuries on the defensive front fade away.
For Stoke, big target man Kenwyne Jones is the choice at the top, still searching for his first goal of the season. Fellow strike giant Peter Crouch will see the bench for the Potters with Jones chosen to start.

Ba: I was ready to go and to play there (at Arsenal), but it didn't happen
The Senegal striker, a January signing of former Blues boss Rafael Benitez, has cut a peripheral figure in Jose Mourinho's second stint at the Chelsea helm.
The 28-year-old could make his Champions League debut when Chelsea play Basel in Group E on Wednesday night after vowing to fight for his place.
Mourinho preferred to allow Belgium forward Romelu Lukaku to move on loan, for a second season, to Everton than to send Ba to the Emirates Stadium on transfer deadline day, having added a fourth striker in Samuel Eto'o to his playing pool.
"I was ready to go and to play there (at Arsenal), but it didn't happen," Ba said.
"I think I'm a good professional, and I've always worked hard to deserve what I have. Until today I will keep doing the same.

Moyes: "We will try and get him up there. But Wayne's game is a little bit more."
David Moyes insists that he has no plans to drop Wayne Rooney into a midfield as he looks for him to continue to forge a partnership with Robin van Persie.
Last season under Sir Alex Ferguson, van Persie was quickly confirmed as United's leading striker with Rooney starting just 22 games - the lowest tally since he moved to Old Trafford - in a plethora of roles.
But Moyes seems intent on seeing Rooney playing just off van Persie as he did in Saturday's win over Crystal Palace - as he returned ahead of schedule after picking up a serious gash to his head which forced him out of England's World Cup double-header with Moldova and Ukraine.
"The hope is that we get a partnership where folk are saying, 'My goodness, we are having to play against Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney!'" said Moyes.

"Signing Mesut Ozil was a BIG mistake" - Kenny Daglish
Liverpool legend Kenny Dalgish has questioned Arsenal’s signing of Mesut Ozil in the just concluded transfer window. Wenger signed the former Real Madrid player in a 42.5 million deal on the very last day of the transfer window. Kenny Dalgish in his daily mirror write up has questioned why Wenger has to spend 42.5 million on another midfielder when according to him there are other areas the team need signings in.
King Kenny wrote in the Mirror: “A couple of things about it interest me, though.
“The first is that, with Ozil, Arsene Wenger has strengthened a position where Arsenal were already strong.
“He has not addressed other positions you might have expected to be a bigger priority.
“Centre-back would be one of those and even though striker Olivier Giroud has started the season impressively, it would be better if there was someone else up there to give him competition or fill in if he gets injured.”

Worldclass Goalkeeper expresses his desire to join Arsenal
Surely Arsenal have shown intent this transfer window after a slow beginning, but at the end landing a world class quality attacking midfielder like Mesut Ozil to the Ashburton Grove. As Arsenal are yet to strengthen their squad with a signing of a goal keeper and Sczcesny’s form hitting a low. Borussia Dortmund’s keeper would be an ideal signing to be brought at the Emirates. Also he Dortmund goalkeeper is expecting Ozil’s arrival at Emirates Stadium to give the Gunners a timely boost ahead of their Champions League campaign.

Arsenal to make to big Free Agent signings in Januray
We all know Arsenal is short up front and we know how Wenger tried but failed to sign Luiz Suarez, Gonzalo Higuain, Wayne Rooney and on the very last day of the transfer Demba Ba. Although the window is closed but clubs can still sign players who are free agents and if reports from Spain and Italy are to be believed, Arsenal are on the verge of signing either Ciprian Marica or Joseba Llorente on a free transfer.
Ciprian Marica was a target for Arsenal in the just concluded transfer window but nothing came out it but after failing to land his more rated strikers, Wenger is now said to be considering signing the player on a free transfer. Marica is a 27-year-old Romanian international with 21 goals in 63 matches for his country. He was recently released by Schalke 04. Aside Schalke, he has played for Stuttgart and Shakhtar Donetsk.

In a recent interview with the German Footballers Federation, Ozil explains that didn’t feel new manager, Carlo Ancelotti had faith in him and chose to pursue his career elsewhere, where he would feel the confidence of the coach, which he feels he has found in German-speaking French Arsenal manager, Arsene Wenger.

“[Wenger] told me he has every bit of confidence in me.”

Arsene Wenger insists there will be no panic buying
The return of Mathieu Flamini on a free transfer - only the second arrival of the summer after French rookie Yaya Sanogo - has done little to allay fans' fears that a significant recruitment drive before Tuesday's deadline will not materalise.
Wenger has failed with bids for Liverpool's Luis Suarez and Newcastle's Yohan Cabaye, while Chelsea are adamant that Juan Mata will not be allowed to leave.
But the Frenchman, who must ready his side to face last year's finallists Borussia Dortmund, as well as Napoli and Marseille, in Europe, is refusing to panic.
"Yes," he told reporters when asked if he was still in the hunt for fresh faces.
